Prof. Andrzej Jajszczyk

Vice President of the European Research Council

Prof. Andrzej Jajszczyk received a PhD degree from the Poznan University of Technology in 1979. He was a visiting scientist at the University of Adelaide in Australia, Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Bretagne, France. He is the Vice President of the European Research Council and Professor at the Department of Telecommunications, the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland. He is 1999 IEEE Fellow and an elected member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Academia Europaea. He was the founding editor of IEEE Global Communications and Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Communications Magazine. From 2011 to 2015 he served as the founding Director of the National Science Centre, a Polish research funding agency. Prof. Jajszczyk is a renowned specialist in telecommunications, telecommutation and telecommunications networks. His scientific research includes mainly methods of analysis and synthesis of digital switching fields, including ATM fields, as well as gigabit optical networks and management of telecommunications networks.
