prof. Danuta Mossakowska-Earnshaw

Director of Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology, professor Jagiellonian University

After completing her B.Sc. at UCL and her Ph.D. at the University of Surrey, Danuta Mossakowska completed postdoctoral fellowships at Imperial College London and the Institute of Cancer Research, Chester Beatty Laboratories.  This was followed by a move to industry where she worked in research and development and held a number of positions of increasing responsibility.  Here she gained an extensive experience in science leadership and management, ranging from Biology Leader of an  international matrix team, to head of Biological Reagents and Assay Development for GSK in Stevenage, UK.  For the last seven years at GSK, she was leading industry and academic partnerships across Europe and Australia through which she developed a passion for supporting academic scientists in translating their research.   Not yet ready to retire and looking for an adventure, she also wanted to give something back to the academic community in helping scientists achieve their maximum potential.  As a result she secured the directorship of the Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology at the Jagiellonian University which she has led since 2020.  At the same time,  she dedicates a portion of time as a Royal Society EiR  to the Babraham Institute, where she is supporting academics in translating their research to more commercial applications.
