Prof. Orest Ivakhiv
Head of the Department of Intelligent Mechatronics and Robotics of the Lviv Polytechnic National University
Prof. Orest Ivakhiv received his degree in information and measurement technology and his PhD in radio devices and systems from the Faculty of Automation of the Lviv Polytechnic Institute. In 2002 he defended his DSc thesis (habilitation) at the Lviv Polytechnic National University in Instruments and methods of measuring electrical and magnetic quantities. He is a professor of precision mechanics, head of the Department of Intelligent Mechatronics and Robotics of the Lviv Polytechnic National University, founder of the Lviv School of Electrical Measurements and member of the Academic Council of the Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology. He chairs the Ukrainian Engineering Society. He is a coordinator of the international education project of the Association of Higher Education Institutions of the Baltic Region – Baltic University Program, Uppsala University, Sweden and of the European Association of Mechatronic Departments REM – Research and Education in Mechatronics at Lviv Polytechnic National University. In 1994 he was as a visiting professor at the University of Toronto, Canada. Since 1996 he has been cooperating with numerous technical universities in Poland, Germany and Belarus. His research interests include: information theory of measurements, processing and evaluation of characteristics of accuracy of measurement results, processing of measuring signals, correcting coding, neural networks, design of multichannel systems, intelligent mechatronic and robotic systems.
