Director of the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences

Prof. Tadeusz Burczyński is the director and professor of the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a full professor at Cracow University of Technology. He completed his PhD in 1980 and DSc in 1990 at Silesian University of Technology. He is an ordinary member of the Polish Academy of Science (PAS), a Member of  the Committee on Informatics of PAS leading the Section of Computational Science, Bio- and Neuroinformatics and an ordinary member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He was the president of the Polish Association for Computational Mechanics (1999-2009) and president of the Committee of Mechanics of PAS (2011-2019). He is one of the pioneers of research in the field of the development and application of the boundary element method to a sensitivity analysis, optimisation, stochastic and fuzzy boundary-value problems. He co-authored the original concept of the application of artificial immune systems to the classification and clusterisation of data problems, analysis of multidimensional biological data and coupling artificial immune systems and game theory. His research is currently focused on information and computational science, especially in computational intelligence, computational mechanics and computational materials science.
